This is from the Federal Reserve Cookbook of 1978 by Ada Luconi
Ingredients
  • 4 cups flour
  • ½ cups sugar
  • ¾ cup currants
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Instructions
  1. Mix dry ingredients, add buttermilk.
  2. Mix to smooth dough, do not over mix.
  3. Turn on to floured board and knead a little and shape into round loaf or baking pans.
  4. Bake at 350-degrees for approximately 1 hour.
